South Lakeland District Council election results 2006

18 seats were contested on 4 May 2006. The Liberal Democrats retained their 8 seats and gained a further 9 seats: 6 from Labour, 2 from Conservatives and 1 from Independents.
The Liberal Democrats gain overall control of South Lakeland District Council, the first time any one political party has had control since SLDC was established in 1974.
