There are a variety of markets across the district offering a wide range of items:

Kendal markets

Access is from the Market Place or the multi-storey car park via the Westmorland Shopping Centre.

Kendal indoor market

18 permanent lock up units plus 25 tables (stalls 9.50 square metres on average and tables 1.83 metres by 0.76 metres).

Units are let on annual agreements. Tenants are permitted to sell own businesses by agreement with Council. Please note traders will need public liability insurance.

There is a service charge.

Refuse collection is available and there is an on site cafe serving hot and cold meals. No vehicle access allowed.

Kendal outdoor market

Open Wednesday and Saturday, 8am to 5pm. Not held on Bank Holidays.

25 pitches of various sizes (traders to use their own dismountable stalls).

Casual traders welcome but it is advisable to telephone first to avoid disappointment: 01539 793 477.

Market Place rent: £1.60 per linear 0.305 metre (1 foot) of frontage (Winter 01 Oct to 31 March: £1.16).

Stramongate rent: £1.16 per linear 0.305 metre (1 foot) of frontage (Winter 01 Oct to 31 March: £0.93).

There is no service charge.

There is a refuse collection. No vehicles permitted on site.

Kendal farmers market

Kendal farmers market is held on the last Friday of every month except December when the last market is Friday 17 December 2021.

Ulverston market hall

The market hall is operated by Ulverston Community Enterprises.

Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. The Market Hall is closed on Bank Holidays.

There are 20 stalls (curtained units, not locked). To rent a stall call 01229 588 994 select option 4.

Units are let on an annual tenancy agreement. Tenants are permitted to sell own businesses by agreement with Council.

There is a service charge.

Ulverston street market

The street market is operated by Ulverston Community Enterprises.

Open Thursday and Saturday.

There are 45 pitches (traders own dismountable stalls, various sizes).

Saturday rent: £1.16 per linear 0.305 metre (1 foot) of frontage (Winter 21 Oct to 31 March: £1).

Thursday rent: £1.39 per linear 0.305 metre (1 foot) of frontage (Winter 21 Oct to 31 March: £1.16).

No service charge.

There is a refuse collection. No vehicles permitted on site.

Kirkby Lonsdale market

Kirkby Lonsdale street market takes place every Thursday.

The market is on Market Square car park and run by Kirkby Lonsdale Community Interest Company.

Milnthorpe market

Milnthorpe street market takes place every Friday.

It is run by Milnthorpe Parish Council in the village's market square.

Sedbergh weekly market takes place every Wednesday.

The market is on Joss Lane car park. Cars and coaches can park beside the market stalls.
