Apply to be a market trader

We welcome new traders to our markets and will always take the time to chat to any interested potential trader who might add positively to the mix or what we offer to our customers. However, before you contact us we ask that you are able to provide proof of at least £5 million public liability insurance.

We also ask any food traders to register with our Public Protection team and comply with all current food hygiene regulations: Register a food business.

We are happy to discuss further details with traders and will issue a copy of current market rules on request.

Indoor market

Kendal indoor market hosts a wide variety of independent local businesses.

Units for the indoor market are leased on an agreement from us and we are always happy to talk to any potential new business.

The indoor market also rent out slots on a daily basis for casual traders who can prove they have a minimum of £5 million public liability insurance.

We would however point out that we aim to avoid duplication of lines sold on the market so that we can offer as wide a range to our customer as possible.

Outdoor market

Outdoor traders are charged per linier foot (0.305m) of the frontage of their pitch we do not provide a gazebo or tables but can supply an electrical feed at an additional cost.

Our summer rate (from 1 April to 30 September) is £1.60 per linear foot (0.305m)

Our winter rate (from 1 October to 31 March) is £1.16 per linear foot (0.305m)

Electricity can be supplied dependant on location at an additional charge of £1 per day per connection.

Traders will be expected to abide by all market rules which will be issued prior to trading.
