Bowness and Windermere parks
Bowness promenade is an area of formal planting and benches, with spectacular views across Windermere lake.
This area has access to boating, shops, restaurants and cafes.
The Glebe is a large grassed area next to the Promenade with a bandstand that holds performances regularly during the summer months. There are also tennis courts and pitch and putt and crazy golf courses. The sports facilities at the Glebe are operated by our leisure providers Better.
This is a popular park on Park Road in Windermere with a football pitch, cricket pitch, crown green bowling, tennis courts, squash pavilion, children’s play area and skate park.
This recreation ground is part of the Millerground area on Rayrigg Road beside Lake Windermere. It has a:
- outdoor adventure centre
- full size football pitch
- children's play area
- picnic and barbecue areas
- lake frontage with public jetties and swimming areas
Work started on Monday 5 November at Rayrigg Meadow to improve the paths and the drainage. Areas of the park will be closed during this construction work but we hope to keep disruption to a minimum.
The Millerground Enhancement Group have raised over £150,000 to improve the footpaths giving access to the lake for everyone and to provide a new children's playground. Work on the playground will start next year, with plans to open early summer.
