The Gambling Act 2005 covers three categories of licence:

  • operating licences
  • personal licences
  • premises licences

Gambling Commission licence and regulate operating and personal licences.

Notice of intention - Statement of Gambling Policy

South Lakeland District Council - Notice of intention to publish Statement of Gambling Policy - Regulation 6(1)(b) Gambling Act 2005 (Licensing Authority Policy Statement) (England and Wales) Regulations 2006. Notice is hereby given that on 8th February 2022, South Lakeland District Council will publish its Statement of Gambling Policy under section 349 of the Gambling Act 2005, which sets out the principles South Lakeland Council proposes to apply in exercising its functions as the licensing authority. The policy can be inspected at South Lakeland House, Lowther Street, Kendal, Cumbria, LA9 4DQ. The policy will come into effect at midnight Wednesday 9 March 2022. Any comments or observations need to be received in writing to the above address or via email to licensing@southlakeland.gov.uk by 23:59 hrs on Tuesday 8 March 2022.

How to apply for a licence

To apply fill in one of the premises licences, permits and registering application forms listed below. A personal licence must be held by the person who manages the premises.

You should return your form and any other relevant document plus your fee to the licensing group (all fees are outlined at the bottom of this page).
