Windermere cemetery

Rayrigg Road, Windermere, LA23 1EY

The cemetery is off the A591 Windermere to Ambleside road, turning left at the Troutbeck roundabout onto Rayrigg Road. It is on the left after 300 yards, opposite the Miller Howe Hotel, but the turn in beside the former cemetery lodge (now privately owned) is easily missed.

There is a small section available for a limited number of new grave spaces specifically for the interment of cremated ashes. The cemetery chapel is disused and has been used for storage only for many years.

Visiting the cemetery

There is limited parking in the cemetery immediately in front of the chapel. There are no facilities in the cemetery other than a stand pipe for water for flowers.

The cemetery is administered from Kendal where all the cemetery records are kept.

This is a large cemetery so visitors should check grave location details with the Bereavement Service office before travelling to the cemetery.
