Virtual Committee Meetings: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

You can take part in and watch our council meetings online.

The way meetings are run and the way you take part in virtual meetings will be different. There is advice on:

  • the protocol and etiquette for virtual meetings
  • finding out when meetings are held, using our calendar of meetings
  • how to access, watch and take part in live streamed meetings

There is a privacy notice for virtual, remote access, meetings.

The Local Authorities and Police and Crime Panels (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority Police and Crime Panel Meetings) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 allows us to conduct remote meetings on a temporary basis, between 4 April 2020 and 7 May 2021.

Virtual meeting, protocol

There is a new set of protocol and etiquette for virtual meetings. Protocol for virtual meetings (PDF 255KB / 13 pages)

All other rules of procedure remain as set out in our Council Constitution.

Calendar of meetings

Find out when meetings are taking place using our approved Calendar of Meetings for 2020/21.

Live streaming of meetings

Meetings will be streamed live. To take part in or watch virtual meetings:

  1. Find the meeting you want to watch, or take part in, in our meetings calendar
  2. Follow the link to the meeting you want to watch
  3. Under the heading 'Agenda' find the 'Link: View live stream of meetings here' and click on the link

If you're taking part in or observing meetings we'd be grateful for your support and patience during these difficult times. This is a very new way of working and there may be some technical issues.

Public participation guidelines

The Regulations state that any member of the public participating in a meeting remotely in exercise of their right to speak must, when they are speaking be able to be heard (and ideally be seen) by all Members in attendance, and the remote participant must, in turn, be able to hear (and ideally see) those Members participating, be so heard and, where practicable, be seen by any other members of the public attending the meeting.

As a result, we have produced a new set of Public participation guidelines: Coronavirus (COVID-19).
