Financial transparency and open data
Fees and charges pay for some of the services we provide. The rest comes from the government and council tax. Council Tax covers about 53% of our budget. We also collect Council Tax for:
- Cumbria County Council
- Cumbria Police Authority
- parish councils
Councillors are paid an annual basic allowance, special responsibility allowances are paid to those with extra responsibilities. They pay Income Tax and National Insurance.
Councillors are also paid back money they spend going to meetings and carrying out other approved duties.
Payments to suppliers of over £250
Our spending on goods and services over £250 (£500 before September 2012). This information is available under our requirements to publish open data.
Pay policy statement
Our approach to pay is set out in our Pay Policy Statement, which can be found in policies and plans.
