Following the resignation of Councillor Dave Khan, a by-election will be held on Thursday 12 August 2021 to fill one vacancy on the Grange ward of South Lakeland District Council.
This page contains the notices we're required by law to display (for example, confirming that an election will be held and who is standing as a candidate), information about the deadline to register to vote and the deadlines to apply for a postal or proxy vote.
Deadlines to register and apply for absent votes in time for the election
The deadline to register to vote in time for the election passed on Tuesday 27 July. The deadline to apply for, change or cancel a postal vote passed on Wednesday 28 July.
5pm on Wednesday 4 August is the deadline to apply for an ordinary proxy vote.
5pm on Thursday 12 August (polling day) is the deadline to apply for an emergency proxy vote for health/disability (except for COVID-19) or employment/work reasons. Your health or work emergency must have happened after the deadline to apply for an ordinary proxy vote, which is 5pm on Wednesday 4 August. You will need someone (for example, a nurse or your manager) to support and sign your application form.
5pm on Thursday 12 August (polling day) is the deadline to apply for an emergency proxy vote for COVID-19 reasons. You don't need anyone to support or sign this form to confirm that you have been told to self-isolate. If you already have a proxy in place but they have been told to self-isolate, you can also use this form to nominate someone else to be your proxy instead.
