Cumbria County Council elections 2017

The Cumbria County Council elections will take place on Thursday 4 May 2017. There are 18 electoral divisions in South Lakeland.

The Notice of Election for the County Council elections has now been published and we will accept nominations from those wishing to stand as a candidate from Friday 24 March 2017. Details of how to submit nomination papers are included in the Notice.

Ambleside & Grasmere District by-election

Due to the resignation of Councillor Heidi Halliday, there will also be a by-election to elect a District Councillor for the Ambleside and Grasmere ward. This will take place alongside the Cumbria County Council elections on Thursday 4 May.

The Notice of Election for this by-election has now been published and we will accept nominations from those wishing to stand as a candidate from Friday 24 March 2017. Details of how to submit nomination papers are included in the Notice.

Register to vote

If you need to register to vote you can do this by visiting register to vote.

If you are unable to get to a polling station you can apply for a postal or proxy vote.

If you are interested in standing for election you can find more information on how to become a County Councillor. Nomination packs for the County elections and District by-elections will be available from South Lakeland House from 24 March.
