Design and access statements
What is a design and access Statement?
A design and access statement is a written report to support a planning application or application for listed building consent. It explains and justifies the proposal in a structured way and illustrates the process that has led to particular design choices being made.
When is a design and access statement required?
Design and access statements are only required for the following applications:
- major developments (as defined in the Development Management Procedure Order 2015)
- listed building applications
- on sites within conservation areas or World Heritage Sites where the development involves:
- one or more dwellings
- development that creates floorspace of 100 square metres or more
