Used to ensure new agricultural buildings are essential to the operational needs of an existing farm or agricultural business.

Requirements

All applications for new agricultural buildings must be accompanied by an appraisal that demonstrates there is an essential need for the building in connection with an existing farm or agricultural business.

Contents of agricultural buildings appraisal

The appraisal show provide justification why an agricultural building is required. Evidence is required to show there is a functional need (this should be proportionate to the nature of the proposal). The evidence would usually contain details of the agricultural holding (size and type), details of uses and sizes of existing buildings, stock type and numbers and the type of agricultural activities undertaken on the site.
