Sunday shoppers to receive festive boost

South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) is again offering free parking in its pay-and-display car parks on Sundays in the run-up to Christmas.

The festive boost for shoppers and traders applies to the Westmorland Shopping Centre Car Park in Kendal and all pay-and-display car parks operated by SLDC in the district, with the specific exceptions of the Brewery Arts Centre car park in Kendal and Miller Bridge car park in Ambleside.

The free Sunday parking offer will apply on the following dates:

  • Sunday 27 November
  • Sunday 4 December
  • Sunday 11 December
  • Sunday 18 December

No contract permit-holder only car parks are included in the offer.

Councillor Robin Ashcroft, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Culture and Leisure, said: "The diverse and unique shops in our towns and villages are key contributors to the vibrant communities of South Lakeland which have faced, and are facing, enormous challenges but responding with resilience and fortitude.

"We at SLDC make this free offer every year in the run-up to Christmas and I would appeal to everybody looking to do some Christmas shopping to support their local shops and use our free parking offer, make a day of it and take the time to experience all the brilliant amenities and attractions South Lakeland's towns and villages have to offer."

Low Fellside in Kendal is a contract permit-only car park and people will not be able to park there without displaying a valid permit.
