The deadlines are fast approaching for eligible businesses to apply for the final two coronavirus support grants administered by South Lakeland District Council.

Applications for Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grants of up to £6,000 will close at midday on Friday 18 March.

The deadline for applications for the fourth and final Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) has been extended by a few days to close at midday on Monday (14 March).

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grants are aimed at easing the dual impact of staff absences and lower consumer demand while Plan B restrictions were in place.

Recipients of that grant must be solvent businesses, and ratepayers in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sector. For example, a pub, hotel, hostel, caravan park, restaurant, bar, cinema; tourist attraction or village hall. A full eligibility criteria can be found on the SLDC website.

The Additional Restrictions Grant is a one-off discretionary grant scheme for businesses from sectors that may have been severely impacted by the move to Plan B restrictions in December and the spread of the Omicron variant, but not eligible for the main Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant schemes.

Councillor Robin Ashcroft, SLDC portfolio holder for Economy, Culture and Leisure, said: "SLDC remains committed to doing everything we can to support businesses, with thousands of businesses in South Lakeland affected by coronavirus restrictions receiving grants totalling more than £150 million through more than 39,000 awards since the pandemic began.

"The flexible and agile nature of SLDC's Customer Connect organisational restructure meant that staff from different departments were quickly deployed to work together to get the money where it was needed as soon as possible.

"We are focussed on supporting the district's long-term economic future but I would urge anybody who thinks their business may be eligible for either of these two grants to check the criteria and get their application in. Time is running out."

Applicants are urged to ensure they are eligible using the criteria on our website, and also refer to the checklists to ensure they have the relevant information.
