Elections 2017

21 March 2017

Cumbria County Council elections will take place on Thursday, 4 May 2017.

There is also a UK Parliamentary General Election on Thursday, 8 June 2017.

In the County Council elections there are 18 electoral divisions in South Lakeland across the whole area.

On the same day Thursday, 4 May a by-election will also be held to elect a district councillor for the Ambleside and Grasmere ward on South Lakeland District Council, following the resignation of Councillor Heidi Halliday. This will take place alongside the Cumbria County Council elections on Thursday, 4 May.

These elections are being organised by us and the count for the South Lakeland divisions in the County Council election and the by-election will take place at Kendal Leisure Centre overnight on 4 May.

If you need to register to vote in either the local elections or the General Election you can do this by visiting register to vote.

If you are unable to get to a polling station you can apply for a postal or proxy vote.

For more information see postal and proxy voting.

The full list of candidates in the County Council elections in South Lakeland, and a list of polling stations, can be viewed on our elections page. For the full list of candidates in all divisions across Cumbria see the Cumbria County Council elections page.
