Apply to be an Independent Remuneration Panel member

29 May 2019

We are looking to recruit members of the community to join our Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP).

The IRP makes recommendations to the council on the level of allowances and expenses councillors should receive by independently and transparently reviewing our members’ allowances scheme.

We are required by law to establish and maintain an IRP and must have regard for the IRP’s recommendations when reviewing or amending the members’ allowances scheme.

Members of the IRP gain a wide range of experience and skills, uniquely contribute to the local community, receive training and are given a small payment for every meeting they attend.

To be eligible to apply for a place on the IRP, applicants cannot be an elected member or employed by any local authority. There are a number of other requirements applicants must meet, which can be found in the IRP information leaflet (PDF 140KB / 3 pages)

Download an IRP application form (PDF 130KB / 4 pages)

Application closing date is Friday 14 June 2019.
