Advisory notice regarding Windermere, Millerground and Rayrigg Meadow
2 June 2017
We have been notified by the Environment Agency that following standard water testing in Windermere, samples from Millerground and Rayrigg Meadow have confirmed the presence of localised blue-green algae.
As a result of this, we are advising the public to stay out of the water in these areas. Please do not swim, paddle or bathe, and keep animals out of the water.
We’d like to stress these instances are localised to Millerground and Rayrigg Meadow. There have been no other reported instances on Windermere.
We will be monitoring both areas over the weekend.
For more safety advice, please refer to the noticeboard at Millerground or visit our blue-green algae page.
