Flower beds

We have many floral displays which are planted with seasonal bedding twice a year.

We also have planters and hanging baskets around towns and council buildings and many large street planters.

Summer displays

These are planted during the last week in May in the Ulverston and Grange over Sands areas. Other areas are planted during the first week in June.

Typical species used include:

  • begonias
  • geraniums
  • marigolds
  • buzy Lizzies
  • petunias

Weekly maintenance visits are made to remove weeds, litter and deadhead the plants. Additional watering is carried out in drought periods.

Spring displays

These are planted during the first week of October and consist of spring flowering bedding and bulbs.

Plants used include:

  • pansies
  • polyanthus
  • wallflowers
  • daisies
  • forget-me-nots

Bulbs used include:

  • tulips
  • daffodils
  • hyacinths
  • crocus
  • snowdrops

We have started recycling bedding plants and these are available to members of the public twice a year. Please see the local press or this website for details in June and October.
