Before you submit a claim:
- check that you meet the criteria
- you have all your supporting documents
If you do not provide the right supporting documents with your application it could delay you receiving your reduction.
How to claim
You'll need to claim in the area you live in.
Barrow
You can either:
- make a claim using the benefits calculator
- fill in the application form
Eden
If you need help filling in the application form, you can contact us.
South Lakeland
You must make a claim in writing for Council Tax Reduction. This can be done by either:
- making a claim using our benefit calculator
- collect an application form from any of our offices
- request an application form to be posted out to you by calling or emailing our Benefits team

If you need help claiming benefits
If you need help claiming benefits or a reduction or advice we offer a visiting service providing you are unable to call at the Customer Services in person due to:
- illness
- bereavement
- disability
- being classed as being a vulnerable person
The visiting officer can also check or collect any documents required in connection with your Benefit claim or for Council Tax Reduction purposes.
