Housing Enforcement Policy
The aim of the policy is to raise standards in the private
housing sector.
The policy is based around the
Enforcement Concordat produced by the Cabinet Office which this
Authority has adopted. The general principles of good enforcement
which are set out in the above concordat are to be adhered to by
the Council in its housing enforcement activities, a copy of the
concordat is attached.
Initially the Council will seek to
work in partnership with private sector landlords and owners to
solve problems jointly which relate to conditions affecting private
sector tenants and occupiers.
Where it appears to the Council that
informal action has been unsuccessful, the process of taking formal
action in accordance with this enforcement policy will begin.
