Housing Need in South Lakeland
In June 2011 a District Wide Housing Needs survey was undertaken
in South Lakeland on behalf of South Lakeland District Council.
Questionnaires were returned by over 4000 households from across
the district. These were analysed and used to produce findings on
current and future housing requirements in the district for both
affordable and market housing.
The full results of this survey are included in the Council’s
Strategic Housing Market Assessment 2011 which was adopted by the
Council in November 2011. A summary of this can be found by
following the following link Strategic
Housing Market Assessment for South Lakeland
The survey found that there is an annual need for 640 additional
affordable homes in the District.
Village/Parish Housing Needs Surveys
The Council also commissions the Cumbria Rural Housing Trust to
carry out local village or parish surveys each year to
compliment its district-wide survey. Visit the Cumbria Rural Housing Trust website
and view summaries of surveys carried out. A summary of the surveys
can be found below.
