Housing Need in South Lakeland

 

In June 2011 a District Wide Housing Needs survey was undertaken in South Lakeland on behalf of South Lakeland District Council.

Questionnaires were returned by over 4000 households from across the district. These were analysed and used to produce findings on current and future housing requirements in the district for both affordable and market housing.

The full results of this survey are included in the Council’s Strategic Housing Market Assessment 2011 which was adopted by the Council in November 2011. A summary of this can be found by following the following link Strategic Housing Market Assessment for South Lakeland

The survey found that there is an annual need for 640 additional affordable homes in the District.

 

Village/Parish Housing Needs Surveys

The Council also commissions the Cumbria Rural Housing Trust to carry out local village or parish surveys each year to compliment its district-wide survey. Visit the Cumbria Rural Housing Trust website and view summaries of surveys carried out. A summary of the surveys can be found below.
