Recycling Banks
There are recycling banks throughout South Lakeland, to view a map
showing the location of your nearest banks please go to our
Find It page and
enter your post code.
Many of the sites we use for recycling banks are on land
provided with the kind co-operation and assistance of organisations
such as supermarkets, leisure centres and leisure facilities.
Please be aware that these facilities may only be available when
the location is open for business.
Household Waste Recycling Centres
There are four Household Waste Recycling Centres in South
Lakeland. These are attended sites provided by Cumbria County
Council that can only be used during the stated hours.
Recycling Centres
We provide local recycling centres around the district, which
are not attended. Please consider residents living near these
centres and use the banks between 8am and 8pm.
Using the Banks
These centres are provided for domestic recycling only and
should not be used by businesses or for general waste.
Please rinse out any glass bottles and jars, plastic containers
and cans before recycling. Clothing and shoes should be bagged to
help keep them clean, and keep paired shoes together.

The recycling banks can be used for the following materials:

Clean aluminium foil, aluminium and steel cans . There is no
need to sort them. |
| Card and Paper |
Clean, flattened cardboard , newspapers, magazines, leaflets,
brochures, catalogues, telephone directories and envelopes. |
| Glass |
Glass bottles and jars. |
| Oxfam |
Books, CDs and DVDs. |
| Plastic |
Plastic banks have a section for bottles and containers, and a
section for plastic bags. |
