Flower Beds
We have many floral displays at high-profile sites which
are planted with seasonal bedding twice a year. We also have
planters and hanging baskets around the towns of
South Lakeland and on Council buildings. In addition we have
may large street planters in the area.
Summer Displays
These are planted during the last week in May in the Ulverston
and Grange-over-Sands areas, other areas in planted during the
first week in June.
Typical species used include:
- Begonias
- Geraniums
- Marigolds
- Buzy Lizzies
- Petunias
Weekly maintenance visits are made to remove weeds, litter and
deadhead the plants. Additional watering is carried out in drought
periods.
Spring Displays
These are planted during the first week of October and consist
of spring flowering bedding and bulbs.
Plants used include:
- Pansies
- Polyanthus
- Wallflowers
- Belis (daisies)
- Myostis (forget-me-nots)
Bulbs used include:
- Tulips
- Narcissus (daffodils)
- Hyacinths
- Crocus
- Snowdrops
We have started recycling bedding plants and these are available
to members of the public twice a year from various locations.
