Parks, Grounds and Open Spaces
Although the Lake District is blessed with magnificent
landscapes, well maintained parks and open spaces are of vital
importance to the everyday life and well-being of local people and
the attraction of visitors to the area.
South Lakeland District Council is committed to safe-guarding
and maintaining it's parks and open spaces for their
recreational, natural and cultural qualities.
We are responsible for:
- over 2 million square metres of amenity greenspace, including
grass areas, shrub borders, parks, hedges, floral displays,
woodland and football pitches.
- Approximately 150,000 ornamental trees.
- over 26 kilometres of walls and fencing.
- over 50 kilometres of pathways.
More information about grass cutting, horticultural maintenance
and other works taking place in the district is available from
Continental Landscapes using the link below.
