Grant Schemes for Historic Buildings

We operate grant schemes to assist with the repair of older properties and to encourage the uimage of kirkland kendalse of traditional methods and materials such as sliding sash windows, lime-based render and the restoration of Victorian shop fronts.

  • Kendal Conservation Area Grant Scheme - offers grant aid to promote the repair of older properties in the Conservation Area
  • Environmental Improvement and Shop Fronts Grant helps owners improve historic areas and spaces in Conservation Areas, and also helps specifically with the repair of traditional shop fronts
We also promote the "conservation-led regeneration" of those parts of Conservation Areas which experience economic need. Grant schemes can make an important to objectives of wider regeneration partnerships such as Ulverston 2000+ and the Kirkland Partnership in Kendal.
 
A Kirkland Facelift Scheme was launched in November 2002 to promote the enhancement of the street frontage of this historic part of Kendal.
