New Legislation introduced on the 1st October 2011

Private sewer and lateral drain ownership will transfer to United Utilities Water PLC from - 1st October 2011.

Sewer pipes which are shared by more than one property, or run beyond your property boundary, will become the responsibility of United Utilities Water PLC. Visit United Utilities Private Sewers page to find out how this may affect your development proposals or property.

New regulations introduced on the 1st October 2010

These regulations came into effect on the 1st October 2010, and will be of interest to people considering building works and their design.

The (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010

New charges relating to THE BUILDING REGULATIONS function have come into effect. These changes bring South Lakeland District Council in line with all other District Councils within Cumbria. To view a copy of the new scheme please go to making a application.

All Charges are subject to VAT at the appropriate rate that will change from the 4th January 2011. The ammended new fee's will be available from the 4th January 2011 on the Councils web site.
