What Happens to the Materials We Collect

 

There are seven main types of waste that are recycled in South Lakeland; cans, cardboard, clothing, garden waste, glass, paper and plastic. We have produced an information leaflet about the ways in which these materials are processed, which can be downloaded below.

There are a large number of charity shops around South Lakeland that accept clothing and other goods that are suitable for re-sale. There are also charity banks at many of our Recycling Centres, please use their websites to access more information about their recycling activities.
 
The Salvation Army collect clothing and shoes.
 
European Recycling collect shoes for the Variety Club.
 
Oxfam collect books, CDs, DVDs and video tapes.
 
Scope collect clothing and shoes.
