Waste and Recycling Guide - B
Bank Statements
Householders can shred bank and credit card statements
then put the shredded paper in the blue paper box or in your home
compost bin.
Batteries, Car
Car batteries should be treated as hazardous waste. They should
be taken to a Household Waste Recycling Centre for safe
disposal.
Batteries, Household
Re-chargeable batteries are widely available and should be used
wherever possible. Please check the manufacturers
instructions as it is not possible to use theses batteries in
some household appliances, such as smoke alarms.
There are now battery recycling points in many electrical stores
and supermarkets. There is also a collection point at South
Lakeland House in Kendal..
