Waste and
Recycling
We provide a range of waste and recycling services to
households around South Lakeland, including collections from the
kerbside and at recycling banks.
The service provided to households is provided as one of the
standard services provided by the Council. However businesses are
able to use any licensed waste contractor, paying for the service
used.

Each household is provided with a collection calendar. These
are available to download or telephone 0845 050 4434.
Ordering Bins and Boxes
To order recycling boxes, green or grey wheelie bins please
email our Customer Contact Centre using the link below. As well as
noting which piece of equipment you require, or wish to have
removed, please include the following information:
- Your name
- Your address
- Your post code
- Your daytime telephone number

We work with right2work to provuice a collection
service for larger items of waste such as tables, chairs and
beds.
We do not provide a service to collect or recycle trade waste.
These services are available from private operators that
provide collections.
Waste and Recycling News
According to Defra 40.8% of the waste generated in England is
recycled or composted. Here is South Lakeland we recycle around 44%
of our waste, keeping us above the national average.
A well known soft drinks company has announced they will be
investing in a facility to recycle plastic. The factory will supply
enough plastic to allow 25% of its plastic packaging to be recycled
from 2012.
You may have noticed that battery recycling points have
become more common over recent years. As a result almost 10%
of batteries are now recycled.
