Castle Hill, Kendal, LA9 6BFKendal Castle from Stramongate Bridge

Castle Hill dominates the skyline of Kendal.

It was built in the 13th century as a home for the barons of Kendal. Today it is a very popular attraction and unique historic monument. There are interpretation boards on site and information leaflets available from the Tourist Information Centre at Kendal Town Hall, as well as interactive media in Kendal Museum.

The hill provides commanding views of the fells and surrounding countryside, as well as across the townscape of Kendal. The area is popular with walkers, children and provides ample space for outdoor activities. Car parking is available on Castle Drive, although the castle is within walking distance of the town centre car parks.
