Abandoned Vehicles
Abandoned vehicles, including cars, vans and trailers, are
removed and disposed of under the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act
1978.
An abandoned vehicle is one which might have been left, unused,
in one location for several weeks, or in an unroadworthy condition
and may not be displaying a valid tax disc.
We aim to respond to all reports of abandoned vehicles within
one working day from when we receive the report. If the
investigation reveals the vehicle may have been abandoned a
statutory notice is fixed to the vehicle. On expiry of this
notice the vehicle is then removed for disposal.
The council can recover the costs associated with the disposal
of the vehicle from land owners or the owner of the vehicle.
To Report an Abandoned Vehicle
Any reports regarding abandoned vehicles should be passed to the
local police who will then investigate whether the vehicle has been
involved in a crime.
Should you have difficulty contacting the local police please

using the Feedback and Report It link on the
