Ethical Governance

Q         What is Ethical Governance?

A          Ethical Governance is the way in which we ensure our ethical standards are
  applied.

It includes amongst other things
  • Personal standards of people standing to be Councillors.
  • Democratic selection of suitable Councillors.
  • Peer group example and approval or condemnation.
  • Training
  • The Code of Conduct.
  • The regulations which allow for allegation, investigating, hearing and sanction against anyone breaking the Code of Conduct.
  • Democratic de-selection.

Ethics means those standards of [in this case professional] behaviour which are largely unwritten but by which we recognise good or bad in ourselves and in other people.
