Chance to Complaints Procecdure

The Standards Committee (England) Regulations 2008
 
Changes to the complaints procedure
From 8th May 2008, the responsibility for considering complaints that a member may have breached the Members Code of Conduct has moved to the Standards Committees of local councils. 
 
What this means to you
From 8th May 2008, if you want to complain that a member or co-opted member of South Lakeland District Council or a member of any Town or Parish Council within the District of South Lakeland has failed to comply with the Code of Conduct applicable to members of those Authorities, then you should make your complaint in writing to:
 
The Chairman of the Standards Committee/Standards Sub-Committee (initial assessment),
c/o Debbie Storr, Monitoring Officer
South Lakeland District Council,
South Lakeland House,
Lowther Street,
Kendal,
Cumbria, LA9 4UQ.
 
stating the nature of the complaint and providing relevant evidence to substantiate your allegation.  A Complaint Form and Informaton for Potential Complaints is available from the links below or from the Monitoring Officer.. If you first want to discuss your complaint with the Monitoring Officer, please contact Debbie Storr at the above address (telephone number - 01539 717429 or email – d.storr@southlakeland.gov.uk)
Please note that the Standards Committee or one of its Sub-Committees can only deal with complaints about the alleged behaviour and conduct of a member.  It will not deal with complaints about any of the Council’s departments or matters not covered by the Council’s Code of Conduct.
