Insurance claims against the Council
There may be occasions where South Lakeland District Council
could be responsible for causing damage to property or causing
bodily injury. In such cases, any claim would be dealt with by the
Council's insurers.
If you do wish to make a claim against the Council you should
complete a form providing all relevant details of the incident
e.g., nature of the damage/injury, when and where it happened etc.
This will enable the insurers to deal with your claim in the
correct manner.
A claim form should be obtained from and then returned to
the department of the Council responsible for the damage or injury.
Alternatively you can download a claim form below which should then
be returned to the department responsible.
Please bear in mind that many services in this area e.g.,
Education, Social Services, Highways, are provided by
Cumbria County Council. To avoid
wasting your time filling in the incorrect claim form you
should first find out which authority is responsible.
Please refer to our
