Cumbria County Boundary Review

Further Electoral Review

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) commenced the Electoral Review of Cumbria in 2010.

This Review looked at the electoral divisions in Cumbria and tried to find electoral equality, i.e. each county councillor looking after approximately the same number of electors.

The final recommendations on the new electoral arrangements have been published and the Order confirming the changes was made on 17 December.  These new arrangements will take effect at the next County Council elections on 2 May 2013.

See the list of Electoral Divisions and the District Wards and Parishes (and Parish Wards) that are included in each Electoral Division (ED).

The main changes to the County Electoral Divisions are as follows:-

  • Colton Parish has moved from Cartmel ED to High Furness ED
  • Staveley-in-Cartmel Parish has moved from Grange ED to Cartmel ED
  • All of Kendal Castle District Ward is now in Kendal Nether ED
  • All of Kendal Heron Hill District Ward is now in Kendal Castle ED
  • All of Kendal Nether District Ward is now in Kendal Castle ED
  • Kendal Romney District Ward is still split between Kendal Highgate ED and Kendal South ED and a number of streets and properties have moved from Polling District BT1 (now renamed BT2) to BT4 (now renamed BT1)
  • Kendal Stonecross District Ward remains split between Kendal Highgate ED and Kendal South ED with some houses having moved from Polling District BU1 to BU2
