Register of Electors (a list of every person in the area
eligible to vote).
Barbon Parish Council By-Election
District Council By-Election
Following the resignation of the councillor
for the Windermere Town District Ward, Sandra Britton, a
by-election will be held on Thursday, 9 February 2012, to fill the
vacancy.

Poll cards have been issued and postal votes
are to be posted 26/27 January 2012.
Please also note that the closing date for
applications to be registered in time for this by-election, or for
new postal vote applications, or for changes to existing postal or
proxy votes, is 5pm on Wednesday, 25 January
2012.
The closing date for new proxy applications is
5pm on Wednesday, 1 February 2012.
New Register of Electors published
The new register showing all those eligible to
vote has now been published. If you wish to check your entry
you can do so at South Lakeland House.
If you move during the year contact Electoral
Services about re-registering so that your details are up-to-date.

What's happening in 2012?
District and Parish elections for a third of
South Lakeland’s area are scheduled for 3 May.
A list of the District
Wards and Parishes involved this year is available along with a
District
election timetable and a Parish election
timetable.
Nomination papers will be available when the
Notice of Election is published around mid-March. The close
of nominations is no later than noon on
Wednesday, 4 April 2012.
Applications to register to vote can be made
up to Wednesday, 18 April 2012
If you wish to apply for a postal
vote, or to change any
details for an existing postal or
proxy vote, you can do so up to
5pm on Wednesday, 18 April 2012.
Postal votes will be posted by first class
post on Friday, 27 January 2012.
The closing date for applications to vote by
proxy is 5pm on Wednesday, 25 April
2012.
Also in 2012, the first elections for Police
and Crime Commissioners will be held across the country on 15
November. More information on these elections will be
available in the coming weeks.
