Kirkby Lonsdale Street Market
Every Thursday

The
market is located in a wonderful setting in the town square
surrounded by a complex of interesting buildings, old and
not-so-old. This traditional setting is thronged on Thursdays
thanks to the mix of traders selling everything from fruit and
vegetables to underwear, fish to footwear.
The town is located above the old Devil's Bridge in the Lune
Valley, an important trading route since Roman times. Many
artists, including Turner and Ruskin, have been inspired by the
views across the river here.
The Victorian fair held in early September, when Coronation
day is celebrated, is an excuse for period dressing up, and
visitors from far and near flock to take part.
From 1st April 2012 this market has been operated by Kirkby
Lonsdale Parish Council.
