What do I need to submit a Local Authority Search?

• Requisition (Form LLC1)
• Enquiry Form CON29R (part 1) and/or CON29O (part 2)
• OR – New Service, you can now submit a short form
• Plan – One must be submitted showing the area to be searched, clearly outlined.  This should be a clear up-to-date plan, preferably to a minimum scale of 1:2500 showing a north point and grid reference, especially so if the area is an expanse of land. If you are having difficulty obtaining a plan please contact the office on 01539 797538.

How do I send it?

• Via e-mail - attach as a PDF document and email to landcharges@southlakeland.gov.uk
• Post: Address to   Local Land Charge Section, South Lakeland District Council, South Lakeland House, Lowther Street, Kendal LA9 4DL
• Via NLIS 
• By DX 63428 KENDAL
• In Person - Hand in to Reception, South Lakeland House, Kendal

How do I pay for a Local Authority Search?

Full Search fee  - from 1 April 2012 the fee will be £89.00.

Fees from 1 April 2012 - Fee List  

• A cheque made payable to ‘South Lakeland District Council’ or simply ‘SLDC’
• NEW SERVICE, you can now pay over the phone using a credit or debit card please telephone the office on 01539 797538
• You can now pay by BACS - please telephone the office on 01539 797538 to make arrangements.

Form Guidelines  

• Always be detailed in full, the more information the better the outcome for you.
  
• Residential property please ensure that it has the correct name/number, street, and village and town detail together with postcode wherever possible.
  
• Commercial property please ensure that it has the correct Trading Name (past/present) followed by a FULL location description.
  
• For Land or fields a full grid reference is helpful followed by a FULL location description.
