Grant Aid to Community Organisations

Grants Programme - Applications welcomed

We have reviewed the grants application process, and South Lakeland District Council are now able to consider applications for grant funding from;

  • voluntary organisations,
  • community groups,
  • non-for-profit organisations and
  • talented individuals.

The grants budget will be finalised in February 2012, with a closing date for applications of 31st March 2012.  Applications received after this date will not be considered.  Once received applications will be assessed, and considered by a grants panel.   Applicants will be notified of the decision regarding the grant application by the end of June 2012.

Corporate Plan & Objectives

In awarding any grants monies the Council must ensure that the activities which receive grant aid reflects its overall aims and objectives.   Applications from new applicants are particularly welcome, and applications for grant funding should meet at least one of the councils Corporate Plan priorities of;

  • Housing
  • Economic Development
  • Environment including Climate Change
  • Culture and Wellbeing

We are unable to assist:

  • National charities
  • Religious bodies for the purpose of promoting their beliefs
  • Political parties or groups engaged in partly political activity
  • Seed-corn funding for new adventures except at a very minimal level

Please note that if your application falls outside the general responsibilities of the Council and can be clearly attributed to another statutory organisation, then generally no grant will be made.
