SLDC Food & Safety Group - Responsible for Health &
Safety in offices, shops, hotels, guest houses, catering services,
care homes, warehouses.
Health & Safety Executive (HSE) - Responsible
for factories, farms, building sites, nursing.
Our Role
Environmental Health (Health & Safety) Officers inspect
workplaces to check compliance with the law.
They also investigate accidents and complaints. However, the
main aim of the Officers is to help employers understand the
importance of Health & Safety, and to inform them what action
they must take to achieve compliance. Enforcement action is only
necessary after all other avenues have been pursued.
