South Lakeland CSP Strategic Assessment 2010 - Priorities for
2011/2012
South Lakeland is a very safe to live, work and visit, with low
levels of crime, and South Lakeland Community Safety Partnership
(SLCSP), formerly known as the Crime and Disorder Reduction
Partnership, is very keen to maintain South Lakeland’s position as
one of the safest in the North West.
The partnership is made up of a mixture of organisations and
voluntary groups who work together with a common aim to tackle
crime and disorder in the area and keep communities safe.
SLCSP undertook an annual assessment of crime in the area in
2010 looking at a wide range of statistics, survey results, trend
lines and predictions, to help make sure we understand what is
important to local communities and how we can avoid duplication of
effort and resources.
After analysing all the data, the recommended priorities for
2011 – 2012 appproved by the Executive Group are:-
- Anti social behaviour, including youth disorder
- Criminal damage
- Domestic Violence and
- Violent crime, including alcohol related assaults
The assessment tells us there is one common contributing factor
in all these priorities, the impact of the negative impact of
alcohol misuse.
This year, we also have to consider how we maintain low levels
of crime and keep South Lakeland safe, when there are significant
cuts to public sector budgets, including those of local
authorities, police and fire and rescue services.
