Concessionary Travel
From 1 April 2011, Cumbria County
Council has taken over responsibility from the district
councils for administering the English National Concessionary
Travel Scheme (ENCTS). Older people and those
with disabilities qualify for a NoW card that gives free
off peak travel on scheduled bus services. The age at which
older people can apply is slowly increasing in line with the
pensionable age of women.
To check if you are eligible visit Cumbria
County Council's website for information on
Concessionary Travel
How can I get my pass?
Visit any one of the county council’s six main libraries in
Barrow, Carlisle, Kendal, Penrith, Whitehaven or Workington which
are open seven days a week and on certain days from 9.30am-7pm so
you can choose a time that suits you.
You won’t need to fill in a lengthy application form or take in
a passport photo either as the staff will do this for you. For
details of library opening times visit www.cumbria.gov.uk or
telephone 01228 606060.
You can also visit Ulverston Local Link who will be able
to assit you with this service.
