Community Voice is a shared consultative resource, commissioned and managed by the Cumbria Community Voice Partnership, comprising nine partner organisations, as follows:

  • Cumbria County Council
  • Cumbria Constabulary
  • Cumbria NHS
  • Allerdale Borough Council
  • Barrow Borough Council
  • Carlisle City Council
  • Copeland Borough Council
  • Eden District Council
  • South Lakeland District Council

Community Voice provides a representative panel of local residents who have agreed to respond to surveys distributed by the Partnership. Four postal surveys are sent to panel members for completion during the year.

The themes for each survey have included:

  • Economy
  • Planning, Transport, Housing and the Environment
  • Health
  • Safer and Stronger Communities

Surveys are conducted four times each year. Information about each of the surveys is available in the Have your Say - Cumbria's Consultation and Community Engagement Database. You can search for specific consultations by all of the partners, including Community Voice Surveys, in the database using appropriate search words.

Who makes up the panel?

Community Voice consists of approximately 3,000 adult members of the public distributed equally across the 6 districts in Cumbria, with approximately 500 South Lakeland residents. Panel members are recruited randomly from Cumbria's population.

Membership is updated periodically to ensure the panel represents a good cross-section of the local public. A commercial company called Craigforth has been commissioned to refresh the 3000 strong panel annually, conduct the surveys and produce reports.

“YES, I want to join Community Voice to have my say!”
