Neighbourhood Plans

The Localism Act, which received Royal Assent on November 15 2011, introduced new rights and powers to allow local communities to shape new development by coming together to prepare neighbourhood plans and neighbourhood orders.  In accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, in order to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan a local community has to first notify the Council of its intentions to be designated as a Neighbourhood Area, state the reasons why it considers the area is appropriate and submit a map of the proposed area. It must also provide a statement to the Council stating why the body that is proposing the designation is an appropriate body to do so.  In line with the requirements of the regulations, the Council is required to publicise the Neighbourhood Area applicaget involvedtion and invite comments over a 6 week consultation period.

Heversham & Hincaster Neighbourhood Plan

On 29 January 2013 South Lakeland District Council received an application from Heversham Parish Council for the designation of a Neighbourhood Area covering Heversham and Hincaster Parishes. The Council subsequently undertook public consultation on this application.

SLDC are currently reviewing the comments and will shortly proceed to make a decision regarding the designation of the Heversham and Hincaster Neighbourhood Area.  Details will be posted on the website in due course.
