Land Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD)
Update 4 May 2012
Whats New?
Thank you to everyone who made representations on the
published Land Allocations DPD. The period for making
representations closed on 17 April 2012. We are
currently placing all representations on the Council's
website.
Next Steps
We are considering the issues raised in
the representations and checking the implications of
the new National Planning Policy Framework,
before submitting the Land Allocations document
for independent examination.
Land Allocations - Proposed Submission Documents
The Land Allocations Development Plan Document (DPD) will
allocate land for new housing and employment and protect green
spaces in South Lakeland (outside the National Parks) in
accordance with the adopted Core Strategy. The proposed submission
edition of the Land Allocations Document was approved at a special
meeting of Full Council on 18 January 2012. The publication
documents comprise the following documents:
- The Land Allocations DPD and Proposals Map and settlement inset
maps;
- The Sustainability Appraisal Report and Appropriate Assessment
Report;
- The Consultation Statement; and
- Supporting documents that are relevant to the preparation of
the Land Allocations DPD.
National Planning Policy Framework
The Government’s new National Planning Policy
Framework (NPPF) including Planning policy for traveller
sites was published on 27 March 2012. The associated Town and
Country Planning (Local Planning) Regulations came into force
on 6 April 2012. The NPPF replaces the earlier
Planning Policy Statements and Planning Policy Guidance
Notes.
