Building standards are approved by Parliament and now deal with
minimum requirements for design and building work to virtually all
domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. These regulations
are in effect basic performance standards.
There are fourteen technical "Parts" of
the Building Regulations' called Approved Documents which range
from Requirement A - Structure to Requirement P -
Electrical safety. The documents are all available from a
number of sources including online at TSO (The Stationery
Office) or by post from

They can also be downloaded from the
web site of the Communities and Local Goverment
New Regulations and the Press Release's
giving Transitional Arrangements of amended documents can also
be downloaded, which indicates how new regulations are being
implemented.
