Waste and Recycling Collection Calendars set for delivery
15 November 2011
South Lakeland District Council are about to
deliver new waste and recycling collection calendars to around
25,000 households in the area.
The calendars are being delivered to those
properties with a calendar, which is due to expire at the end of
November 2011. The new calendars include full details of the
collection schedule for the next two years. Householders need
to be aware of
the changes to kerbside collections when there
is a Bank Holiday. Full details of collections over the
Christmas and New Year period are available in your calendar or
visit the website.
The kerbside recycling service has played a
major role in reducing the amount of waste sent by householders to
landfill each year.
Councillor Clare Feeney-Johnson,
portfolio holder for Environment and Sustainability, said:
“There has been a 25% reduction in the amount of waste sent to
landfill since 2008. This is excellent news and shows the
commitment of everybody in the South Lakeland area in dealing with
waste in a responsible way.”
The delivery of calendars is taking place
during the week commencing 21 November and should be completed by
25 November. Any householder who does not receive a calendar
for their area by 30 November is advised to contact SLDC as soon as
possible on 0845 050 4434.
