Prepare for forecasted heavy rain

South Lakeland District Council is advising residents and businesses to prepare for further heavy rainfall. Current forecasts for Friday 6 and Saturday 7 July are for prolonged heavy rainfall over the north of England, which could lead to surface water flooding.

SLDC can confirm that sandbags are available for the public to collect from the following depots:

  • North Lonsdale Road Depot, Ulverston LA12 9DX
  • Ecclerigg Depot, Windermere LA23 1LJ
  • Canal Head Depot, Kendal LA9 7BY

All the depots are open Monday to Friday from 8am until 4pm.   

The SLDC Contact Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8am – 6pm to deal with any enquiries regarding flooding and the number to call is 0845 050 4434.
