Car Parking Consultation hits the road
2 August 2011
South Lakeland District Council is holding a
series of Roadshows to find out people’s views and opinions on car
parking in the district. On 6 July, SLDC launched a
twelve-week consultation asking residents and visitors to give
their views and opinions about car parks provided by the
council. To make sure as many people as possible get an
opportunity to take part in the survey, SLDC will be out and about
in the district.
Car Parking Roadshows will be held at the
following venues:
Wednesday 10
August
Market Place,
Kendal
10am –
4pm
Thursday 11
August Market
Place,
Ulverston 10am –
4pm
Friday 12
August
Broad St Car Park,
10am – 4pm
Windermere
Officers from the council will be available to
speak to members of the public about car parking in the district
and will be encouraging people to complete a questionnaire, which
covers various topics such as charging, automatic number plate
recognition, disabled parking and why people use a particular car
park.
The questionnaire also asks for comments and
suggestions on how the council could improve current parking
facilities and what people would like to see in the future.
Assistant Director for Social
Enterprise, Michael Keane, said: “By going out and about
in the district, we are encouraging people to come and have a chat
with us about car parking and any issues or concerns they may
have. The council hopes that the Roadshows will be well
attended by both residents and visitors so we receive a good cross
section of views and opinions on this issue.”
Questionnaires are also available from South
Lakeland House in Kendal, Ulverston Town Hall as well as tourist
information centres and libraries across South Lakeland and can be
completed online on the
website.
