Temporary Closure of New Road Common
16 August 2011
New Road Common will be temporarily
unavailable from Sunday 11 September until Saturday 17
September. This is so that South Lakeland District Council
can carry out ground contamination testing in preparation for the
ongoing project to regenerate this area of Kendal town
centre.
The travelling Fair will be using New Road
Common from Friday 9 September until Sunday 11 September and then
the whole area will be securely fenced off to allow bore hole
testing to take place. However, the council would like to
point out that if all the work is completed before Saturday 17
September, New Road Common would be re-opened
sooner.
Councillor Graham Vincent, portfolio
holder for Enterprise and Economy, said: “We want to give
members of the public plenty of notice that New Road Common will be
fenced off temporarily so that the ground contamination work can
take place. Once the work is completed, New Road will be
re-opened.”
